ROCKINGHAM SCHOOL DISTRICT

   School Board Meeting

@ WNESU Central Office

Monday, February 3, 2020 @ 5:30 p.m.

Members in Attendance: Rick Holloway, George Smith, Priscilla Lambert, Kristen Swartwout

Others in Attendance: Chris Pratt, Missy Wilkins, Laura Hazard, Keith Nemlich, Karen Bukowski,

 

1.  Call to Order:  Rick Holloway called the meeting to order at 5:33 pm.

 

2.  Pledge of Allegiance:  Missy Wilkins led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

3.  Adjustments to Agenda:  none

 

4.  Review & Approve Board Minutes for January 14 & 21, 2020:                                                                                                                                    

            a.  Corrections/Amendments: 

 

Priscilla Lambert moved to approve the minutes of January 14 & 21, 2020 as written.

The motion passed.

           

5.  Communications and Public Comments:  None

 

6.  Policies: None

 

7.  Reports:

 

            a.  Superintendent/Central Office Staff:  Chris Pratt gave a report and spent a few minutes going over navigation of the new ADA compliant WNESU website.  The site is still under construction.

 

b.   Principals:

 

            i.  Laura Hazard: gave a report.  Enrollment is at 85.  In January principals did a presentation to all staff in which Ms. Hazard has put together a slide show.  Ms. Hazard discussed professional development and growth reports.  SRES worked as a staff to make some adjustments to the schedule which will begin after the February break.  The new schedule will include a W.I.N. block.  The V.S.O. group Triple Treble will visit SRES on Feb. 28th.  Kindergarten will be attending “Go Home Tiny Monster” at the Latchis Theater weather permitting. Trooper Bryson Lunderville visited SRES during our safety drill to provide feedback.  The whole SRES staff will give and receive updates related to school safety on February 26th.

 

            ii.  Keith Nemlich: reported enrollment numbers and an ADA of 95.6.  Kindergarten completed the Lucy Kotkins Program.  Mr. Nemlich went over class projects by grade i.e. 4th grade biography reports and discussed World Read Aloud Day. All grades are currently working on Red Clover Books.  Afternoon training at CES took place; different groups went over many projects.

 

            iii.  Karen Bukowski:  reported on the Annual Winter Showcase Night.  256 students qualify for the mid-year reward and may choose an activity for 2/13.  2/14 is the Annual Winter Carnival.  Ms. Bukowksi visited Magic Mt. over the last two weeks.  They have done a really nice job of welcoming our students and reserving us space.  MAP testing training, and MAP testing has taken place.  Teachers are discussing tying in MAP with PLPs.  BFMS students participated in the Winter Music Festival at Springfield High School. January enrollment is at 259 up13 kids from last year.  ADA is 92-percent. 

           

c.   Business Manager: none

           

d.   WNESU Board:  There have been special meetings held to discuss payroll matters.

           

e.   Committees: none

            a.  Board Goals/Discussion: Tabled until after the reorganizational meeting.

 

9.  New Business for Discussion/Action, if any:  

 

            a.  Town Meeting Preparation:

 

  • Priscilla Lambert is assigned article 1
  • Kristen Swartwout is assigned article 2
  • Rick Holloway is assigned article 3
  • Margo Ghia is assigned article 4
  • George Smith is assigned article 5

11.  Directors’ Comments:

 

Rick Holloway: said that wishes there were more residents and citizens willing to sit up here with us and encouraged the public to pick up a petition.

 

George Smith:  said that he found out recently that there is a stipend for serving on the school board if that is a motivating factor.

            a.  Equalized Pupil Discussion
